Late Goal by Reid Preserves Win Over Syracuse
9/19/1999 12:00:00 AM | Field Hockey
The game was scoreless for most of the first half until junior Regan Wulfsberg (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown HS) slid one into the Syracuse net with just 40 seconds remaining in the half.
Michigan came out strong in the second half, scoring its second goal of the game just under six minutes into the half off the stick of freshman Stephanie Johnson (Houston, Texas/The Kinkaid School). Syracuse fought back, bringing itself to within one goal four minutes later, but Michigan would hold on and Reid would eventually ice the game with her team-leading fifth goal of the season. The Orangewomen added one more goal with 2:33 remaining, but it was not enough. The U-M victory knots the all-time series at one win apiece.
Michigan will begin conference play Wednesday (Sept. 23) as it travels to East Lansing to face Michigan State.
