Olson, Warren Impress as U-M Topples Penn State

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 9 University of Michigan wrestling team defeated 10th-ranked Penn State 20-19 in front of a season-high 848 fans on Friday (Feb. 19) at U-M's Cliff Keen Arena. The win was the Wolverines' 10th dual victory of the season against four defeats.
Fifth-ranked sophomore Otto Olson (Everett, Wash./Everett HS) was the highlight of the evening -- and possibly of the season to date -- for the Wolverines as he controlled and conquered Penn State's second-ranked Glenn Pritzlaff, earning a 9-4 decision in the 174-pound matchup. Olson (27-3) is a perfect 14-0 in dual meet matches on the season with one meet remaining.
Freshman 184-pounder Andy Hrovat (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Edward's HS) collected his 27th victory of the season with a 5-3 decision over Nittany Lion Andrew Butville, moving Hrovat into ninth place in Wolverine wrestling history for wins by a freshman. Hrovat is 27-9 on the season and ranked 13th in the nation.
The meet started with 165-pound match, and Penn State led from the start until fifth-ranked sophomore Damion Logan (Garfield, N.J./St. Joseph's Regional HS) scored a five point technical fall over Mark Bost at 141 pounds, putting the Maize and Blue ahead 17-15 with two matches remaining.
Other Wolverine wins came from sixth-ranked 133-pounder Joe Warren (Grand Rapids, Mich./East Kentwood HS), who pinned No. 18 Nate Parker, and 15th-ranked 149-pounder Corey Grant (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston HS), who earned a 2-0 decision over Biff Walzier.
Michigan closes out its dual meet season against Ohio State on Sunday (Feb. 21) at 1 p.m. in Cliff Keen Arena.
