Michigan Soccer Falls 4-2 at Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Michigan women's soccer team dropped its second game in a row and fell to 0-2-0 in Big Ten Conference play with Sunday's 4-2 loss at Northwestern.
Northwestern scored early, 1:13 into the match, but Michigan's Kacy Beitel (Midland, Mich/H.H. Dow HS) tied the score at the 12:15 mark on an assist from Nancy Mather (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster HS) and the teams went into the intermission with the score tied 1-1.
After the Wildcats regained the lead six minutes into the second period, Amber Berendowsky (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) scored her fourth goal of the year on a feed from Jessica Limauro (Troy, Mich./Troy HS) to pull the Wolverines even again at the 68:43 mark. But Northwestern found the back of the net less than a minute later to take the lead for good and sealed the win with another goal with 10 minutes to play.
Jessica Jones (Midland, Mich./Midland HS) went the distance in net for Michigan, picking up her first loss on the year.
Michigan's first Big Ten home game is against Penn State Friday (Sept. 25) at 4 p.m. at the Michigan Soccer Field.
