Sam Roy retired from gymnastics prior to the 2018-19 school year and joined the Michigan women's gymnastics coaching staff as a student assistant coach.

She helped lead the Wolverines to the 2019 Big Ten Championship and Big Ten regular season titles in 2019 and 2020.

Roy was a part of back-to-back Big Ten Championship teams in 2017 and 2018 while competing for the Wolverines. She earned Academic All-Big Ten honors as a sophomore. Roy is currently a senior majoring in neuroscience.
