Jacob Kohn enters his second season with the University of Michigan men's basketball program after joining Dusty May's staff as Director of Basketball Analytics in August 2025.
One of the emerging analytical minds in college basketball, Kohn brings a data-driven approach to roster construction, opponent scouting, recruiting evaluation and game preparation.
Leveraging advanced statistical modeling and quantitative analysis, he works closely with Michigan's coaching staff to translate complex data into actionable insights that support decision-making across all areas of the program.
In his first season in Ann Arbor, Kohn helped Michigan produce one of the greatest campaigns in school history. The Wolverines posted a program-record 37-3 record, captured the Players Era Championship, won the outright Big Ten regular-season title with a school-record 19-1 conference mark, claimed the NCAA Midwest Regional championship and secured the program's first national championship since 1989.
Prior to Michigan, Kohn spent five seasons as Director of Basketball Consulting at Big League Advantage (BLA), one of the nation's leading basketball analytics and consulting firms.

During his tenure, Kohn worked directly with numerous Division I programs, most notably Duke and Alabama, helping coaching staffs evaluate opponents, identify recruiting targets, analyze transfer portal prospects and maximize the use of internal team data. Over his final four seasons at BLA, either Duke or Alabama advanced to the Final Four in three seasons.
Recognized nationally for his analytical expertise, Kohn finished among the Top 10 participants in the 2023-24 KenPom H.U.M.A.N. Poll, earning recognition from noted college basketball statistician Ken Pomeroy as an "Expert Ball-Knower."
Kohn developed a reputation for blending advanced statistical analysis with practical basketball applications, helping coaching staff identify trends, uncover efficiencies and make informed personnel and strategic decisions.
A native of Seattle, Washington, Kohn graduated from Duke University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a minor in Psychology.
Prior to attending Duke, Kohn graduated from Nathan Hale High School in Seattle.
