ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's basketball assistants Kyle Church and Drew Williamson have been selected to participate in the 2026 TopConnect Basketball Symposium, an invitation-only leadership development event that annually brings together many of the nation's top emerging coaches and athletics administrators.
Church and Williamson are among 50 basketball professionals nationwide chosen to attend the symposium, which will be held Monday (June 8) on the campus of UNLV.
Entering their third seasons on head coach Dusty May's staff, Church and Williamson have helped play key roles in Michigan's resurgence on the national stage. Over their first two seasons in Ann Arbor, the Wolverines have compiled a 64-13 record, captured a Big Ten Tournament championship, won the 2026 Big Ten title, advanced to two NCAA Tournaments and secured the program's first NCAA National Championship since 1989.
In addition to his duties as an assistant coach, Church serves as Michigan's general manager, playing a key role in roster construction, recruiting strategy, player personnel evaluation, NIL management and the program's overall operational planning. Williamson serves as Michigan's recruiting coordinator and has been instrumental in coordinating the Wolverines' recruiting efforts, managing prospect evaluations and supporting the program's organizational operations during one of the most successful stretches in recent Michigan basketball history.
The TopConnect Basketball Symposium is widely regarded as one of the premier professional development opportunities in collegiate athletics. The annual event provides rising leaders in the profession an opportunity to engage with athletic directors, conference commissioners, executive search firm executives and other industry leaders through educational sessions, networking opportunities and leadership development programming.
Now in its ninth year, the symposium focuses on preparing future leaders within intercollegiate athletics through discussions on leadership, the hiring process, fundraising, program management and career development.
