ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's golfer RJ Arone has been named to the 2026 NCAA Division I PING All-Midwest Region Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Saturday (May 30). Arone was one of 25 players recognized in the Midwest region and one of just six Big Ten golfers selected.
The honor caps a record-setting sophomore season for Arone, who led the Wolverines with a program-record 71.00 scoring average, breaking the previous sophomore mark of 71.72 set by Kyle Mueller in 2015-16.
Arone paced Michigan in six events during the 2025-26 campaign and recorded five top-10 finishes. He posted 18 rounds at or below par, highlighted by a season-best third-place finish at the Fighting Irish Classic and a ninth-place showing at the Kepler Intercollegiate.
Arone closed the season strong at the Big Ten Championships, tying for 14th with a 54-hole total of 211 (+1). He carded a final-round 69 (-3), one of just 11 sub-70 rounds during the championship, to climb 17 spots on the leaderboard.
The Wolverines also established a new program record with a 285.75 team scoring average during the 2025-26 season, surpassing the previous mark of 287.37 set in 2014-15.
The PING All-Region honor is the first of Arone's collegiate career and marks the fifth straight season a Wolverine has earned all-region recognition.
