COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Josh Eernisse of the University of Michigan ice hockey team has signed a one-year entry-level contract (ELC) with the Columbus Blue Jackets, the organization announced on Sunday (April 12).
The ELC is for the 2026-27 season. Additionally, Eernisse signed a professional tryout contract with the Cleveland Monsters, the Blue Jackets' American Hockey League affiliate, for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
Eernisse played three seasons with the Wolverines after transferring from St. Thomas. In 151 career games, he recorded 34 goals and 31 assists for 65 points. This past season, he finished second in the nation in short-handed goals with three and added three game-winning goals while posting a +17 rating.
A native of Eagan, Minn., Eernisse capped off his collegiate career with a Big Ten Tournament championship and a run to the NCAA Frozen Four.
During his three seasons at Michigan, Eernisse won two Big Ten Tournament championships and reached the Frozen Four twice. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, he also earned the NCAA Elite 90 Award last week in Las Vegas, presented to the student-athlete with the highest grade-point average at the Frozen Four.
