
Hughes Becomes 105th Wolverine to Earn All-America Honors

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Senior T.J. Hughes of the University of Michigan ice hockey team earned first-team AHCA/CCM All-America honors, the American Hockey Coaches Association announced Friday (April 10).
A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Hughes becomes the 105th Wolverine in program history to receive All-America recognition.
Serving as team captain, Hughes led Michigan with 57 points in 40 games, averaging 1.43 points per contest -- a mark that ranked second nationally. The Big Ten Player of the Year totaled 22 goals and 35 assists on the season.
Over his four-year career, Hughes helped guide the Wolverines to three Big Ten Tournament championships and three Frozen Four appearances. He concludes his career ranked 20th in program history with 179 points, averaging 1.14 points per game, on 69 goals and 110 assists. His goal total includes 27 power-play scores, 10 game-winning goals, and one hat trick, while he recorded 49 multi-point games.
Hughes was also a force in the faceoff circle, winning more than 1,450 draws at a 56.2 percent success rate, and finished with a +36 career rating.
A four-time All-Big Ten selection, Hughes became the first senior to be named Big Ten Player of the Year. He also leaves his mark on the conference record book as the all-time leading scorer in Big Ten play with 108 points. He holds the conference record for assists (64) and ranks second in goals (44).
