ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 4-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team (10-1, 3-0 B1G) will host No. 3 Nebraska (10-4, 2-1 B1G) at 2 p.m. on Sunday (March 22) at Cliff Keen Arena in the regular-season finale, with the Big Ten regular-season title on the line. The meet, which is also slated to be a Maize Out for fans in attendance, will be streamed live on B1G+, and the team's seniors will be honored following the competition.
Notes
• A victory over Nebraska would secure the outright regular-season championship for Michigan. If the Wolverines lose and Ohio State defeats Penn State, a three-way tie would result, with the title determined by score differentials.
• Michigan enters the meet on a five-meet winning streak after defeating rival Ohio State, 328.700–326.550, on March 16, a performance that marked a season-high team score. The meet remained tightly contested throughout, featuring three lead changes through the first five rotations. OSU regained the lead heading into the final rotation, but standout routines from Carson Eshleman and Fred Richard, combined with a 12.650 from the Buckeyes' anchor, allowed Michigan to pull ahead and secure the win.
• The Wolverines recorded season-best scores on still rings (54.050) and high bar (55.800) while capturing four event titles. Charlie Larson swept floor exercise (14.200) and vault (14.450) for the second consecutive week, Akshay Puri won still rings (14.000), and Eshleman claimed the high bar title with a 14.600, tying the top score nationally. Michigan's team total ranks as the second-highest in the NCAA this season.
• Michigan remains No. 4 in the national rankings following back-to-back season-high team scores. The Wolverines rank seventh on floor (52.873), second on pommel horse (54.250), fifth on still rings (52.983), fourth on vault (55.233), eighth on parallel bars (51.250), and eighth on high bar (52.100).
• Larson ranks fifth nationally and first in the Big Ten on floor exercise (13.883) and has earned Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors in consecutive weeks. Aaronson Mansberger is fifth in the country and second in the conference on pommel horse (14.083), highlighted by a 14.900 at the Ohio State Open, the second-highest score of the season. Puri ranks ninth nationally on still rings (13.617 average), while Richard is second on parallel bars (13.817).
• Nebraska enters at 10-4 (2-1 B1G) and is riding a three-meet winning streak. The Huskers most recently defeated Illinois on March 14 with a season-high score of 322.350–312.050. Their lone conference loss came at Oklahoma on Feb. 28 (321.150–331.300).
• Nebraska ranks third on floor (54.083), fifth on pommel horse (52.983), eighth on still rings (51.983), first on vault (56.250), second on parallel bars (54.117), and second on high bar (52.383).
• Individually, Asher Cohen leads the nation on still rings with a 13.983 average and a season-high 14.350 against Penn State. Nathan York ranks first nationally on parallel bars (14.183), while Cohen is eighth (13.717).
• Chase Mondi (13.717) and Max Odden (13.700) rank eighth and ninth, respectively, on floor exercise. On vault, Ty Roderiques (14.133) and Mondi (14.117) rank fifth and sixth nationally. On high bar, Odden is second in the country and first in the conference with a 13.850 average.
