
Behind Muratore, Hwang, Wolverines Finish Ninth at Palmas Del Mar Collegiate

» Closing with a team round of 285 (-3), Michigan opened its spring season with an 868 (+4) 54-hole total to finish ninth at the Palmas del Mar Collegiate, contested on the Flamboyan Course at Palmas del Mar Golf Club.
» Dean Muratore led the Wolverines for the third time this season, tying for 16th at 213 (-3). He totaled 13 birdies and an eagle over the 54-hole event.
» Jordan Hwang followed with a tie for 29th at even-par 216, opening with a 70 (-2) before posting back-to-back 73s (+1). He recorded 10 birdies for the tournament.

HUMACAO, Puerto Rico -- Powered by a three-under-par performance from sophomore Dean Muratore and an even-par finish by freshman Jordan Hwang, the University of Michigan men's golf team opened its spring season with an 868 (+4) 54-hole total, placing ninth at the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate on Tuesday (Feb. 10) at Palmas del Mar Golf Club's Flamboyan Course.
Led by Hwang's opening-round 70 (-2) on Sunday (Feb. 8), the Wolverines carded a 297-team total to sit ninth after 18 holes. Michigan returned on Tuesday with a strong second round, highlighted by Muratore's 67 (-5) and an even-par 72 from sophomore RJ Arone, trimming 11 strokes from its opening round with a 286 (-2). Despite the improvement, U-M slipped one spot into 10th with a 583 (+7) 36-hole total.
In the final round, Michigan posted the best team score of the tournament, firing a 285 (-3) behind a pair of 70s (-2) from Arone and sophomore Nilay Naik, along with an even-par 72 from Muratore. The closing push lifted the Wolverines back into ninth place to finish the event with an 868 (+4) 54-hole total.
Compiling a 213 (-3) tournament total, Muratore led the Wolverines for the third time this season, earning his third top-20 finish by tying for 16th. Hwang followed with an even-par 216 (70-73-73) to tie for 30th.
Closing with matching final-round 70s (-2), Naik rallied into the top 50, tying for 44th at 219 (75-74-70), while Arone finished just outside the top 50, tying for 51st at 221 (79-72-70).
The Wolverines return to Ann Arbor and will be idle from tournament play for the next month before heading back to the Louisiana Classics for the first time since 2024. The two-day, 54-hole event is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, March 9–10, at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette. In their 2024 appearance, Hunter Thomson's runner-up finish paced the Maize and Blue to a sixth-place team showing.
