
Michigan Set for Home-Opening Wolverine Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team will open the home portion of its schedule, hosting the Wolverine Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 10) at the U-M Indoor Track Building. Field events will start at 10:30 a.m. and track events will begin at 11 a.m.
Notes
• The Maize and Blue earned three individual medals at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, with Savannah Sutherland claiming the 400-meter dash title (51.74 seconds) for the second straight year. Aasia Laurencin finished second in the 60-meter hurdles (7.97) and Elizabeth Tapper finished third in the shot put (18.26m/59 feet, 11 inches). Laurencin's time set the St. Lucia 60-meter hurdles national record, while Tapper's mark set the program shot put record for the fifth time in the 2025 season.
• The trio represented Michigan at the NCAA Indoor Championships, with Sutherland placing fourth in the 400-meter dash (51.23) and Laurencin placing sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.09). Sutherland's time set the program and Canadian national records for the 400-meter dash. Tapper finished 12th (16.90m/55-5.5) in her NCAA Championships debut.
• Michigan sent a group of sprinters and distance runners to the Blue and Gold Invitational on Dec. 5 and the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Dec. 6 to open the season.
• The Wolverines went 1-2-3 in the 300-meter dash, with Payton Smith (37.74), Sidney Green (38.95) and Trinity Henderson (39.31) taking the top spots at the Blue and Gold Invitational. Smith ran a personal-best time, while Green came 0.59 seconds and Henderson 0.95 seconds shy of their personal bests, respectively.
• Brooke Johnston (9:31.66), Rylee Tolson (9:37.89) and Sophie Cloutier (9:42.20) finished as the top three finishers of the 3,000-meter run, while Jadyn Zdanavage (9:47.77) finished fifth.
• At the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, Emmry Ross made her collegiate debut and finished third with a time of 4:45.74 while Coraline Haggarty finished 10th with a time of 4:48.18.
• The Wolverines added 10 freshmen, three sophomores and two grad transfers to the roster in the offseason.
• Lauren Bickerdt, Keyanna O'Tey, Myla Wilkes, Chyler Turner and Janey Campbell are expected to make their Wolverine debuts on Saturday.
