
U-M Set to Battle No. 10 Indiana to Open 2026

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 4-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team (6-0) will return to Ann Arbor to face No. 10-ranked Indiana on Friday (Jan. 9) at noon. The meet will take place at Canham Natatorium and will be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• Michigan returns home after a one-month gap in competition, coming off a second-place finish at the CSCAA Dual Meet Challenge in Knoxville, Tenn., falling only to top-ranked Virginia.
• Bella Sims has been impressive to this point in the season, owning the nation's best time in the 400-yard IM, the second-best time in the 100-yard backstroke, and the third-best time in the 200-yard freestyle.
• Letitia Sim also holds two top-12 national times, ranking third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:06.52 (best in the Big Ten) and 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 58.12 (second in the Big Ten).
• The Wolverines hold three of the top five times in the Big Ten in the 100-yard butterfly, with Brady Kendall, Hannah Bellard, and Leila Fack ranking second, third, and fourth, respectively. Bellard also owns the conference-best time in the 200-yard butterfly at 1:52.39.
• Rebecca Diaconescu holds the third-best time in the Big Ten in the 1,000-yard freestyle, clocking a 9:40.72.
• Stephanie Balduccini ranks third in the conference in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.98, trailing only Sims.
• U-M will face Indiana for the 32nd time in program history, with the Maize and Blue leading the all-time series, 26-15, but having not defeated the Hoosiers since the 2020-21 season.
