Top-Ranked U-M to Resume Play Hosting Notre Dame at Sold-Out Yost

Canned Food Drive & Chuck-a-Puck -- Fans are encouraged to bring in canned food items to benefit the Food Gatherers Food Bank of Ann Arbor. Any fan who brings at least two (2) canned food items will receive a ticket (one ticket per fan) to redeem at the skate counter for a foam puck to throw onto the ice following the game. Fans must redeem tickets no later than the end of the first period.
Prizes -- Prizes will be awarded to fans who get the puck closest to the five faceoff circles on the ice (north and south faceoff circles, center ice).

Block Out Cancer Pink Game -- Join Michigan Hockey in the fight against cancer by filling Yost with pink. Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of awareness and research.
Pink Out T-Shirt Giveaway -- Free Pink Block Out Cancer T-shirts for the first 3,000 fans in attendance.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 1-ranked University of Michigan hockey team (16-4, 7-3 Big Ten) will resume play this weekend, hosting Notre Dame (4-13-1, 0-8 Big Ten) at Yost Ice Arena. Face off is slated for 7 p.m., on both Friday (Jan. 9) and Saturday (Jan. 10), with both games streaming on B1G+.
Notes
• Michigan enters the second semester with a 16-4 overall record and is first in both the national poll and the NCAA Percentage Index (NPI). This is the Wolverines' best record through the first 20 games since the 2007-08 team started 18-2.
• The Wolverines are in second place in the Big Ten standings with 20 points, two behind first-place Wisconsin. Both Michigan and Wisconsin have played in two more games than the other five conference squads, including Notre Dame, which is 0-8 with one point.
• Michigan had seven players play for three different teams during the break. T.J. Hughes and the U.S. Collegiate Selects finished as the runners-up at the Spengler Cup. Michael Hage and Jack Ivankovic won bronze medals at the World Juniors, while Will Horcoff, Cole McKinney, Asher Barnett and Dakoda Rhéaume-Mullen represented the USA, which lost in the quarterfinals.
• Michael Hage was named to the IIHF All-Star Team. He is the first Wolverine to be named to the All-Star Team since Jack Johnson in 2006. Hage finishes as not only Canada's leading scorer, but the tournament's leading scorer with 15 points. His 15 points are the most for a Michigan Wolverine at a World Juniors -- passing Mike Cammalleri's 11 points from 2002. His 15 points rank ninth all-time in Canadian history -- tying John Tavares and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
• T.J. Hughes, Michael Hage and Will Horcoff lead the team with 28 points, averaging 1.40 points per game – all tied for fifth in the NCAA. Jayden Perron follows with 18 points, with Adam Valentini leading the freshman class with 17. Horcoff leads the team in goals with 19, while Hage has 10.
• Jack Ivankovic is 16-4 as Michigan's starting netminder. He ranks fifth in the nation in save percentage at .927 and is fifth in goals against average at 1.90. The Mississauga, Ontario, earned his fifth international medal on Monday.
• Michigan is averaging 4.80 goals per game, the top scoring offense in the nation. Holding opponents to 2.05 goals per game puts the team in fourth place in scoring defense in the NCAA.
• Michigan's power play unit is converting at 30.5 percent (25/82) to rank third nationally. The penalty kill is 30th at 81.7 percent and has scored seven short-handed goals -- the second most in the NCAA. Notre Dame's power play is at 29.4 percent (fourth) and the penalty kill is at 85 percent (ninth).
