
U-M Readies for Three Squads at Sunday's Ohio State Open

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 4-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team will hit the road to face Big Ten foes Ohio State and Illinois, as well as No. 7 Greenville, Sunday (Jan. 18) in Columbus, Ohio. The 2 p.m. meet held at the Covelli Center will stream on B1G+.
Notes
• The Maize and Blue opened 2026 at home -- topping Greenville (305.200) and Simpson (292.500) -- on Jan. 10 at Cliff Keen Arena with a score of 308.400. Michigan led the entire meet, earning six event titles in the win.
• Sophomore Solen Chiodi took home three event titles, securing the floor exercise (13.650) and all-around (76.400) titles -- in addition to tying for first on vault (14.150). His all-around, still rings (12.600) and parallel bars (13.400) scores set new career bests. His floor exercise score is tied for fourth in the NCAA and leads the conference, while his vault score is tied for sixth nationally.
• Aaronson Mansberger won the pommel horse title with a score of 13.350, tied for 10th in the NCAA and second in the conference. Mansberger was named Big Ten Specialist of the Week for his performance.
• Junior Akshay Puri earned the still rings title (13.400). His score is tied for No. 3 in the NCAA.
• Freshmen Chase Pappas and Eli Osuna made their collegiate debuts last week, with Osuna competing in the all-around. Pappas competed in three events, with his best score of the day coming on vault (13.000).
• Osuna had a breakout performance in his Wolverine debut, winning the high bar title with a score of 13.200 to tie for seventh nationally and first in the Big Ten. He earned B1G Freshman of the Week and CGA co-Rookie of the Week honors.
• The Ohio State Open will serve as the season opener for the Buckeyes and the Fighting Illini.
• Michigan will return home to host Oklahoma on Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. at Cliff Keen Arena. The meet will broadcast on B1G+.
