ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team will open its 2025-26 season on Friday (Sept. 26) at the TEAM BE BETTER; Invitational at 3 p.m. at Canham Natatorium.
Notes
• Michigan will honor the late Ian Miskelley on Friday with the Be Better; Invitational, an annual meet that seeks to promote mental health awareness and the opportunity to donate to the Be Better; Foundation, a charitable organization established by the Miskelley family in Ian's memory.
• U-M will compete against Calvin, Hope and Purdue as all three schools have student-athletes with a connection to Miskelley and the Miskelley family at the prep, club and collegiate levels.
• Friday's meet will feature a mix of traditional and non-traditional events and will be non-scoring.
• Head coach Matt Bowe is entering his third season at the helm of the Michigan program. Under his guidance, U-M finished in the top 10 at the NCAA Championships for the first time since the 2021-22 campaign.
• U-M returns seven All-Americans from the 2024-25 roster, highlighted by junior Stephanie Balduccini, who captured the Big Ten gold medal in the 200-yard freestyle and finished third in the event at the NCAA Championships in 2024-25.
• Among the newcomers, Bella Sims comes to Ann Arbor with a strong college resume. The junior is a two-time national champion at Florida and has competed on the international stage for Team USA. Sims was named Michigan's Big Ten Swimmer to Watch.
• In diving, Brandon Loschiavo will make his debut at Michigan's diving coach. He comes to Ann Arbor from Missouri, where he served as an assistant coach.
• Kiarra Milligan was named the Big Ten Diver to Watch for the second year in a row. Milligan captured All-America second-team honors for her performance in the three-meter dive at the NCAA Championships in March.
