
Michigan Men to Start 2025-26 Season with TEAM BE BETTER; Invitational at Canham Natatorium

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team will open the 2025-26 season on Friday (Sept. 26) with the TEAM BE BETTER; Invitational at 3 p.m. inside Canham Natatorium.
Notes
• Michigan will honor the late Ian Miskelley on Friday with the TEAM BE BETTER; Invitational, an annual meet that promotes mental health awareness and supports the Be Better; Foundation, a charitable organization established by the Miskelley family in Ian's memory.
• U-M will compete against Calvin, Hope and Purdue, each of which has student-athletes with connections to Miskelley and his family at the prep, club or collegiate levels.
• The meet marks the beginning of the third season under head coach Matt Bowe. Michigan finished second at the Big Ten Championships and improved three places at the NCAA Championships to finish 11th nationally last season.
• The Wolverines return six All-Americans, led by senior Tyler Ray, who was named a Big Ten Swimmer to Watch. Ray captured the Big Ten title in the 100-yard butterfly and set a program record with a time of 44.00.
• Junior Colin Geer earned his first Big Ten crown in the 200-yard butterfly last season. He collected a team-high three All-America honors, including first-team recognition in the 200 fly.
• Senior Jack Wilkening, a backstroke and sprint freestyle specialist, returns after earning All-America honors in the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard medley relay.
• On the diving side, Brandon Loschiavo makes his debut as Michigan's diving coach. Loschiavo arrives after one season at Missouri and a decorated competitive career as a diver.
• Friday's meet will feature a combination of traditional and non-traditional events and will be conducted as a non-scoring exhibition.
