
Wolverines to Travel to Missouri for Gans Creek Classic

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's cross country team will resume competition at 9:45 a.m. CT on Friday (Sept. 26) at the Gans Creek Classic hosted by Missouri at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo.

• Twelve Wolverines will compete in the 8K Gold race. Jack Kelke, Peter Baracco, Caleb Jarema, Nathan Lopez and Luke Venhuizen are expected to make their season debuts. Missouri will also play host to the NCAA Championships on Nov. 22.
• U-M remains in the No. 5 spot in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association regional rankings.
• This will be the first road meet of the season for the Wolverines and second of the season after hosting the Michigan Open on Aug. 29.
• Nolan Clark posted a first-place finish at the Michigan Open with a personal-best time of 14:59.4, cutting 30 seconds off his previous best. His performance earned his first career conference honor, claiming the Big Ten Cross Country Athlete of the Week award on Sept. 3.
• Trent McFarland finished in second (15:01.7), marking his fastest career time over five kilometers. Two more Wolverines rounded out the top-10, with Kyler McNatt coming in ninth (15:12.5) and Brendan Herger 10th (15:12.7) in his Michigan debut.
• Jonathan Miles and Marcus Reilly also made their Wolverine debuts, finishing 21st (15:39.1) and 24th (15:43.0), respectively.
• Michigan will be back on the road next week for the Joe Piane Invitational on Oct. 3 in South Bend, Ind.
