ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's basketball team announced Wednesday (Aug. 6) a home-and-home series with Villanova. The first game is scheduled to be played at Crisler Center on Tuesday, Dec. 9. The return game, at Villanova, is to be determined. Television and tip time will be released on a later date.
The home-and-home series will mark the seventh and eighth games between the Wolverines and Wildcats. Overall, the Wolverines trail 4-2 in the all-time series, with the last game resulting in a 63-55 U-M loss in the 2022 NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16. Three of the six series games have been in the NCAA Tournament, including the 2018 national title game.
Overall, five of the six games have been played at a neutral site. The lone campus game was part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games at Villanova on Nov. 14, 2018, which U-M won 73-46 at Finneran Pavilion.
The Maize and Blue is guided by Dusty May, who in his first season led the Wolverines to a 27-10 record, won the Big Ten Tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16 for a sixth straight NCAA Tournament.
After three seasons at Maryland, Kevin Williard begins his first season at Villanova and returns to the Big East following a 12-year career at Seton Hall (2011-22). Last season, he guided the Terrapins to a 27-9 record, tied U-M for second place in the Big Ten (14-6) and advanced to the Sweet 16.
