
Clark, McFarland Lead U-M at Season-Opening Michigan Open

DEXTER, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's cross country team opened its 2025 slate at home with the Michigan Open on Friday (Aug. 29) at the Hudson Mills Metropark.
Michigan raced against Toledo, Akron, Bowling Green and Siena Heights. A pair of Wolverines took the top-two finishes and four finished in the top 10.
Nolan Clark and Trent McFarland went 1-2, posting times of 14:59.4 and 15:01.7, respectively. Kyler McNatt (15:12.5) and Brendan Herger (15:12.7) placed ninth and 10th, respectively, to round out the top-10 finishers. Herger made his debut for the Maize and Blue, while Clark shaved 30 seconds from his personal best.
Ian Hill finished 12th with a time of 15:12.8, Riley Flemington finished 13th with a time of 15:13.0 and Aiden Sullivan finished 14th with a time of 15:13.3. All three posted personal-best times. Sullivan's time was 56 seconds faster than his previous best.
The Wolverines will return to action on Sept. 26 at the Gans Creek Classic hosted by Missouri in Columbia, Mo.
