ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team will open its 26th season with a pair of matches at U-M Soccer Stadium. First up, the Wolverines will host Notre Dame on Thursday (Aug. 21) at 7 p.m., then battle UC Riverside on Sunday (Aug. 24) at 2 p.m. Both games will be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• U-M will look to build off a strong 2024 campaign that saw the Wolverines reach the Big Ten Tournament final and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
• Seven primary starters from the 2024 roster return for 2025, including Michigan's top three defenders in Will Baker, Matthew Fisher and Nolan Miller.
• Michigan adds 12 new players to its 2025 roster as four transfer students and eight freshmen join the squad to round out the 31-man team.
• Head coach Chaka Daley enters his 14th season at the helm of Michigan soccer, amassing 104 wins in his 13 campaigns in Ann Arbor.
• Raymundo Mendez, Miller and Shuma Sasaki were named Michigan's Big Ten Players to Watch on Tuesday (Aug. 19). Mendez and Sasaki join the Wolverines from Seattle Pacific and the University of the Cumberlands, respectively. Miller is entering his fourth season with the Maize and Blue, notching 10 points in three years at U-M.
• Miller was named to the United Soccer Coaches Defenders to Watch list ahead of the 2025 season. The senior has tallied 4,676 minutes in three years with U-M and is set to serve on the team leadership council for the second season.
• Michigan will face Notre Dame for the 22nd time, with the Fighting Irish leading the series 13-4-4. The Wolverines will meet UC Riverside for just the second time, with U-M winning the initial matchup in 2008.
• Next up, Michigan will welcome Creighton to U-M Soccer Stadium for a 7 p.m. match on Friday, Aug. 29.
