• Wolverines to Open with SDSU, Auburn
LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- After releasing its first two opponents, the University of Michigan men's basketball team, in conjunction with the Players Era Championship, released today (Monday, July 14) the full event schedule, arena assignments and that all games will air exclusively on TNT, truTV and HBO Max.
The 18-team tournament features 27 games over three days (Nov. 24-26) at MGM Grand Garden Arena and Michelob ULTRA Arena in downtown Las Vegas. The women's event will be played on Nov. 26-27. The schedule for the first two days has been predetermined, with Wednesday's championship day matchups determined following the outcome of those first two games.
The Wolverines will open against San Diego State on Monday, Nov. 24 in a 7:30 p.m. PT matchup at Michelob ULTRA Arena. On Tuesday, Nov. 25, U-M stays at the ULTRA and takes on Auburn at 5:30 p.m. PT.
Ticketing presales via AXS will begin Thursday (July 17) and go through Wednesday, July 23. Venue sales will begin Friday, July 25 starting at 10 a.m. PT.
Teams that win their first two games -- and based on the matchups, there could be as many as six teams that go 2-0 -- will be the first to qualify for the championship and third-place games, followed by teams that are 1-1. The championship game will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena at 6:30 p.m. PT.
As with last year's inaugural tournament, championship seeding and any tiebreaks -- either for more than four undefeated teams, or a 1-1 team filling out the top four -- will be determined by point differential, points scored and points allowed.
The Players Championship features over $20 million in guaranteed sponsor NIL activities for participating teams. Like the 2024 event, these NIL activities will take place during ancillary events that are separate from games.
