DURHAM, N.C. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team closed out the road portion of its regular-season slate on Sunday (May 4) at the Duke Twilight with a pair of program top-10 times being posted at Morris Williams Stadium.
A pair of Wolverines finished in the top 10 of the 800-meter run, with Stephanie Bertram finishing seventh (2:06.68) and Penelopea Gordon finishing eighth with a season-best time of 2:071.01. Alyna Lewis came in 11th (2:07.52), Coraline Haggarty came in 15th (2:08.32), Hannah Pricco came in 23rd (2:10.37), Emma Thomas came in 24th (2:11.18) and Clare McNamara came in 28th (2:13.15), all logging personal bests.
Sidney Green won the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 56.96 seconds, moving up on the program performers list from No. 4 to No. 2.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Leah Hill finished sixth with a personal-best 10:33.31 and shaved nearly 18 seconds off her previous best.
The 4x100m relay team of Payton Smith, Noelani Phillips, Trinity Henderson and Green posted a season-best time of 45.59, 0.37 seconds short of tying the No. 10 time on the program performers list.
Kourtney Rathke finished fifth in the pole vault, clearing a personal-best 4.09 meters (13 feet, 5 inches) for the No. 7 mark on the program performers list. With the mark, Rathke becomes the eighth Wolverine to clear 4.00m and holds the third-best mark by a freshman in program history.
The Wolverines took the top three spots in the shot put, with Elizabeth Tapper (17.27m/56-8), Abigail Russell (15.79m/51-9.75) and Trinity Franklin (15.60m/51-2.25) placing first, second and third, respectively. Franklin's mark was a season-best, while Tapper came 0.02m shy of her program record and personal-best mark.
Michigan will return home next week to host its lone home meet of the outdoor season, the Len Paddock Open, on Friday (May 9) at U-M Track and Field Stadium.
