BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The No. 22-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team rolled to a 6-1 victory over Indiana on Sunday (March 23) at the IU Tennis Center, marking the Wolverines' 12th consecutive win in the series.
Gavin Young and Bjorn Swenson got Michigan off to a fast start at No. 1 doubles, rebounding from a 0-1 deficit to win five straight games before sealing the match, 6-2. Mert Oral and Nicholas Steiglehner clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 3. The duo jumped out to a 3-1 lead and closed strong after Indiana pulled within one game.
Will Cooksey extended the lead with a commanding 6-3, 6-1 win over Deacon Thomas at No. 1 singles — his first career win at the top spot in just his second appearance there. Oral followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 6 before Steiglehner delivered the clinching point at No. 4, earning his second match-clinching win of the weekend with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
