ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 9-ranked University of Michigan rowing team opens its spring season at the Big Ten/Ivy Dust Up on Saturday (Match 22) at 8 a.m. in Camden, N.J., at the Cooper River Yacht Club. The Wolverines will face three nationally ranked opponents -- No. 6 Yale, No. 10 Syracuse, and No. 11 Penn -- in the two-session event. Other schools competing in the event will be No. 13 Rutgers and No. 14 Ohio State.
Notes
• U-M is ranked at No. 9 in the early season CRCA Poll, opening as a preseason top-10 team for the eighth straight season.
• In the event, Michigan's 2V4, 1V4, 2V8, and 1V8 boats will each race twice split over two sessions. The morning session is set to begin at 8 a.m., and the afternoon session will start at noon.
• This event will be the first of four regular-season competitions taking place between March and April and the first of back-to-back racing weekends.
• Hosting the event will be Yale, while participating schools will include Penn and Syracuse along with conference foes Ohio State and Rutgers, who placed third and fourth, respectively, at the Big Ten Championships a year ago.
• Michigan opens the season coming off its fourth Big Ten title in five seasons (2019, '21, '23, '24), with hopes of repeating for a third straight year.
• The Maize and Blue's 25 returning athletes from last year's championship-winning team will be supported by 32 newcomers (transfers and first-year student-athletes), many of whom look set to make their debuts this weekend.
• Senior Katie Easton was named to the 2025 preseason CRCA Athletes to Watch list for a second straight season. Easton, a two-time CRCA All-American (second team, 2023, '24), will look to lead Michigan to another conference title this season.
