Wolverines Roll to Road Win at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team used an 18-0 run spanning the first and second quarters, with the lead never dipping below double digits the rest of the way in a 78-60 win over Nebraska on Thursday evening (Feb. 6) at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Michigan had three players in double figures, led by Greta Kampschroeder's 16 points on five three-pointers. Jordan Hobbs turned in the second double-double of her career, going for 14 points and 10 rebounds, with Syla Swords turning in 15 points, five rebounds and five assists. U-M got 19 points off the bench as Te'Yala Delfosse had nine points and four rebounds, with Ally VanTimmeren chipping in six.
Hobbs converted a nifty three-point play on Michigan's final possession of the first quarter, followed by a defensive stop to give Michigan an 18-14 lead after 10 minutes of play.
Delfosse scored on back-to-back possessions to start the second quarter for Michigan, forcing a Husker timeout at the 8:57 mark as Michigan's lead grew to 22-14. The timeout did nothing to deter the U-M run, as Michigan scored the next 11 points to force another Husker timeout at the 5:40 mark as the lead grew to 33-14. Delfosse, Hobbs, Yulia Grabovskaia, Swords and Olson accounted for the next 11 points, with a triple from Olson in transition capping the run.
Michigan hit the half with a 42-21 lead, forcing 14 Nebraska turnovers and turning them into eight points. Five Wolverines had at least five points, highlighted by 12 points for Swords.
Nebraska opened the third quarter on an 8-0 run, forcing a Michigan timeout at the 8:05 mark holding a 42-29 lead. Kampschroeder hit a triple out of the timeout the stem the tide for the Maize and Blue.
With Nebraska continually threatening to cut the lead to single digits, Delfosse converted a three-point play off an offensive rebound with 3:23 on the clock for a 50-37 lead. Kampschroeder hit a triple on Michigan's final possession of the third, sending the Wolverines to the fourth with a 58-42 lead.
Kampschroeder hit back-to-back triples to start the fourth quarter for Michigan, pushing the lead back 20 points to put the game out of reach. U-M outscored the Huskers 20-18 in the final stanza to record the 18-point win.
Michigan completes a two-game road swing on Sunday (Feb. 9), heading to East Lansing to wrap up the season series against Michigan State. The game is set for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast live on FS1.
