
U-M Set for Big Ten Championships in Minneapolis

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team (4-1, 2-1 Big Ten) will travel to Minneapolis, Minn., for the Men's Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships. The four-day meet will start on Wednesday (Feb. 26) and end on Saturday (March 1), and the entire event will be streamed on B1G+.
Notes
• Last year, U-M tallied 1,153.5 points and finished third at the Big Ten Championships. The Maize and Blue lead the Big Ten with 42 team titles and 539 individual conference championships since 1921.
• Senior Gal Groumi will compete in his final Big Ten Championships after earning Big Ten Swimmer of the Championships honors in 2024. Groumi won the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM events last season.
• Sprint freestyler Bence Szabados, a graduate student, will also race in the Big Ten Championships for the final time. He captured his first career conference crown in the 100-yard freestyle in 2024 and ranks third in the Big Ten in the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 19.20.
• Reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year Colin Geer is poised for another strong performance at the conference championships. The sophomore leads the league in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:41.43.
• Eitan Ben-Shitrit brings versatility to Minneapolis, ranking in the top 10 in the conference in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:42.71.
• Freshman Jon Jøntvedt will make his Big Ten Championships debut, ranked second in the Big Ten in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a best time of 14:48.20.
• Eduardo Moraes returns to the Big Ten roster after training for the Olympics last season. Moraes ranks third in the conference in the 500-yard freestyle with a mark of 4:14.29.
• In diving, senior Cameron Gammage leads the way for the Maize and Blue, ranking seventh in the Big Ten in both the one-meter and three-meter dives.
