ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 12-ranked University of Michigan ice hockey team (16-12-2, 10-9-1 Big Ten) takes on No. 4 Minnesota (21-6-3, 12-4-2 Big Ten) on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 14-15) in the regular-season home finale at Yost Ice Arena. Puck drop on Friday (Feb. 14) is at 7 p.m., with the game to be streamed live on B1G+. Saturday is Senior Day, with puck drop scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
Notes
• Michigan will honor its two seniors, Ethan Edwards and Mark Estapa, along with five fifth years capping their collegiate seasons -- captain Jacob Truscott, Philippe Lapointe, Andrew Albano, Thomas Daskas and Logan Stein.
• Michigan moved up to No. 12 in the latest USCHO poll and is also No. 12 in the Pairwise rankings after taking a game at Munn Ice Arena last weekend. With its 16-12-2 overall record, U-M sits fourth in the Big Ten standings with 28 points, six behind Ohio State and four in front of Wisconsin. Minnesota is in second place with 38 points.
• Minnesota is in second place in the conference standings with a 21-6-3 overall record and is third in the Pairwise. The Gophers were idle last week, during its bye week, after a sweep of Wisconsin on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
• Minnesota leads 156-137-20 in the all-time series with Michigan dating back to 1922-23. The Gophers won both of the previous meetings this season in December. The last U-M win over the Gophers at Yost Ice Arena was on Dec. 4, 2021.
• Michigan has an edge on Minnesota in special teams play. The Wolverines' power play ranks sixth in the nation at 26.5 percent, while the Gophers are 13th at 23.4 percent. Michigan's penalty kill has killed off 78.3 percent of its penalties, while Minnesota is at 75.4 percent, with Michigan averaging almost double the number of penalties (4.4 to 2.4).
• Junior T.J. Hughes leads the Wolverines offense with 33 points in 30 games. Averaging more than a point per game in his career, Hughes has a team-best 13 goals and 20 assists this season. Hughes also boasts the longest active scoring streak in the nation at 13 games.
• Freshman Michael Hage has reached the 30-point plateau with 12 goals and 18 assists in 27 games played. The Montreal Canadiens draft pick has scored four game-winning goals this season, including one in overtime.
• After missing the first six games of the season due to an illness, rookie defenseman Will Felicio has found his footing. He has 11 points in 19 games and has the best plus/minus rating on the team at +11.
• Truscott leads the Wolverines in blocked shots with 49; Edwards follows with 40. Edwards has 18 points on the season and is averaging 24:34 on the ice, while Truscott has 15 points and has an average ice time of 22:28.
• Michigan's bye week falls next week, as the Wolverines take a rest before the final weekend of the regular season at Ohio State on Feb. 27-28.
