ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team honored its seven-member senior class before downing Miami (Ohio), 171-111, on Saturday (Feb. 1) in Canham Natatorium.
Eitan Ben-Shitrit, Ozan Kalafat, Tyler Ray and Jack Wilkening took the win in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:06.60 to start the meet.
Joshua Brown led the way in a Michigan sweep of the 1,000-yard freestyle, logging a mark of 8:56.62. William Savarese and Ryan Healy took second and third with times of 9:05.19 and 9:06.45, respectively.
Colin Geer won the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 1:34.68. Gal Groumi and Eduardo Moraes rounded out the top three with marks of 1:34.72 and 1:34.83. Ethan Schwab outraced the field in the 100-yard breaststroke, logging a time of 53.93.
Freshman Lorne Wigginton captured the victory in the 200-yard butterfly, throwing down a time of 1:44.56. Ray clocked a 19.36 in the 50-yard freestyle to take the win for the Maize and Blue.
Bence Szabados posted a time of 43.13 in the 100-yard freestyle to take first overall. Schwab completed the sweep of the breaststroke events, winning the 200-yard race with a mark of 1:58.82.
Freshman Inbar Danziger won the 200-yard backstroke with a mark of 1:45.26, and Moraes took first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:20.97.
Wigginton took his second win of the day, closing out the individual events with a time of 3:42.69 in the 400-yard IM.
Geer, Ray, Szabados and Wilkening combined to win the 200-yard freestyle relay with a mark of 1:17.46 to close out the senior day meet.
Julian Cardenas won the one-meter dive with a score of 384.55 while Logan Hepner took the three-meter dive with a mark of 400.40.
Michigan will be back in action on Feb. 15 when select Wolverines take part in the First Chance Meet.
