
Dahlin, Swenson's NCAA Run Concludes in Quarterfinals

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Max Dahlin and Bjorn Swenson of the University of Michigan's men's tennis team saw their run at the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships end in the quarterfinals on Friday (Nov. 21) on the USTA National Campus.
Dahlin fell to NC State's Martin Borisiouk in the singles championships, while he and partner Swenson dropped their doubles quarterfinal match against the Ohio State duo of Nikita Filin and Brandon Carpico.
In singles, Dahlin won the first set 6-4 before Borisiouk came back to win 7-5 and 6-2 in the second and third sets.
Dahlin grabbed a 3-1 advantage in the first set with an early break and maintained the edge, concluding the set with a perfect love game. In the second, each traded breaks and sat 5-5 before Borisiouk won the last two games to even the match. Dahlin had his service broken twice in the third set, falling 6-2 in his first loss of the season.
In his first season as a Wolverine, Dahlin earned All-America status and went on a 9-0 run to the quarterfinals.
In the afternoon doubles match, Filin and Capriico took an early break to lead 3-0 and finished with a 6-2 first-set victory. In the second set after trading service points, the Buckeyes won five straight games for the 6-1 final.
The duo finished the fall season with All-America honors and a 5-1 record as a pair.
The Michigan dual spring season will begin with the three-day Florida Hidden Duals, from Friday through Sunday, Jan.9-11 in Boca Raton, Fla.
