
Arone Ties for 12th, Leads Wolverines as Rains Wash Out Cullen Brown Collegiate

» Returning to Lexington Country Club, Michigan completed its darkness-delayed second round with a 288-team total, giving the Wolverines a 580 36-hole tally and a tie for 12th at the rain-shortened Cullen Brown Collegiate.
» With rain falling, the 15-team field was able to complete the second round after play was suspended Monday due to darkness. As heavy rain and storms moved into the area, the final round was canceled, making the event officially 36 holes.
» Carding consecutive 70s (-1), RJ Arone paced the Maize and Blue and tied for 12th with a 140 (-2) total. He has now recorded 10 of his 11 fall rounds under par and leads the Wolverines with a 69.18 scoring average. Nicolas Simon rebounded from an opening 74 (+3) with a 70 (-1) in the second round, tying for 44th at 144.
» The Wolverines' starting lineup consisted entirely of sophomores.

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Returning to Lexington Country Club to complete its darkness-delayed second round, the University of Michigan men's golf team and the rest of the 15-team field had the final round canceled Tuesday (Oct. 7), as heavy rain and storms hit the Cullen Brown Collegiate. U-M tallied a 288 in the second round to post a 580 36-hole total and tied for 12th in the rain-shortened event.
With back-to-back 70s (-1), sophomore RJ Arone led the Maize and Blue, tying for 12th with a 140 (-2) total. With his two sub-par rounds, he has now posted 10 of 11 fall rounds under par and continues to lead U-M with a 69.18 scoring average.
After opening with a 74 (+3), sophomore Nicolas Simon bounced back with a 70 (-1) in the second round to tie for 44th with a 144 total. Making his first start of the season, sophomore Johnny Solis rounded out U-M's top three with rounds of 75 and 73, finishing tied for 63rd with a 148 total.
After four events in the books, the fall season concludes with a trip to Kettering, Ohio, and the Moraine Country Club as the Wolverines play in the Moraine Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 13-14) hosted by Miami (Ohio).
