Wolverines Race Past Ferris State in Exhibition Win

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 13-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team showed its offensive firepower in a 108-58 exhibition victory over Ferris State on Thursday night (Oct. 30) at Crisler Center.
Michigan had three players score in double digits, led by sophomore Olivia Olson going 8-for-12 from the floor en route to a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double. Mila Holloway went for 17 points, seven assists and five rebounds, with Brooke Quarles Daniels ending the game with 11 points, five rebounds and five steals.
Michigan scored the first six points of the game and 13 of the first 16 for a 13-3 lead after a Holloway bucket with just over four minutes remaining. With two-and-a-half minutes left in the first, Alyssa Crockett went on a personal nine-point run, hitting three straight triples, propelling Michigan to a 30-9 first-quarter advantage.
Michigan held a 28-18 advantage in the second quarter, with junior transfer Ashley Sofilkanich scoring six points in the frame and another seven from Olson. With the Bulldogs unable to make a field goal for more than three minutes, the Wolverines grabbed a 58-27 lead at the half.
U-M outscored Ferris State 24-18 in the third quarter behind six points from Syla Swords and five from Te'Yala Delfosse. Michigan forced six turnovers in the third, turning those into nine points.
Michigan led by as many as 50 points in the final quarter, with 12 Wolverines finding the scoring column as U-M doubled up the Bulldogs (26-13) in the fourth. U-M shot 51.3 percent (41-for-80) from the field in the game and hit 12 three-pointers on 37.5 percent shooting. U-M recorded 15 steals and handed out 24 assists.
Michigan will open the regular season on Tuesday (Nov. 4), hosting Canisius at 7 p.m. inside Crisler Center.
