
U-M to Host UCLA in Conference Clash

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 16-ranked University of Michigan men's soccer team (7-2-3, 3-2-1 Big Ten) will return to U-M Soccer Stadium to face UCLA (3-5-3, 3-2-1 Big Ten) on Friday (Oct. 17) at 6 p.m. for Backyard Soccer Night. The match will be broadcast nationally on Big Ten Network.

• U-M is coming off a resounding 3-1 win over Ohio State in Columbus on Tuesday night (Oct. 14) in a rematch of the 2024 Big Ten Tournament final.
• Grayson Elmquist had a career match for the Maize and Blue, scoring two goals to fuel the rivalry win. He is now tied with Quin Rogers for the team lead in goals with four.
• Michael Ramirez tallied a career-high three points against the Buckeyes, with a goal and an assist in the first half to pace the team in points on the season with nine.
• Matthew Fisher now leads the Wolverines with four assists in 11 starts after notching a helper on Elmquist's first tally against OSU. Fisher paces a group of four U-M players with three assists or more in 2025.
• The Michigan defense has been stingy, ranking second in the conference in goals-against average at 0.92. The Wolverines have allowed 11 goals in 12 matches and have not allowed more than two goals in any game this season.
• U-M has six players with six points or more and ranks fourth in the conference with 71 total points.
• Friday will mark the first time that Michigan and UCLA will face each other in Ann Arbor, with the previous two meetings taking place in Los Angeles and Bridgeview, Ill., in 2024.
• The series between the Wolverines and Bruins is tied at 0-0-2. The most recent draw came in the semifinal round of the 2024 Big Ten Tournament, with Michigan advancing courtesy of a penalty shootout win.
• Michigan will continue its homestand with matches against Northwestern (Oct. 24) and Detroit Mercy (Oct. 28), respectively.
