Paralympic Updates: Merle Finishes Sixth in 1,500m Final

University of Michigan dental school student Leo Merle was the final Wolverine to compete in the 2024 Paralympics, making his Paralympic debut in the 1,500-meter run on Saturday (Sept. 7). His classification is T38.
Merle, the U.S. record holder in the event (4:06.13), placed sixth with a time of 4:16.43 to finish just 0.24 seconds behind fifth-place finisher Abdelkrim Krai of Algeria.
Amen Allah Tissaoui of Tunisia (4:12.91) took home gold, while Nate Riech of Canada (4:13.12) and Reece Langdon of Australia (4:13.13) rounded out the medalists.
