
Wolverines to Trek to Madison for Nuttycombe Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's cross country team will hit the road to Madison, Wis., for Friday's (Sept. 27) Nuttycombe Invitational hosted by Wisconsin, The meet is slated to start at 11 a.m. CDT at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course.
Notes
• The Wolverines remained ranked No. 6 in the Great Lakes Region in the latest USTFCCCA Coaches Poll behind Big Ten opponents Wisconsin (No. 2), Michigan State (No.3), and Ohio State (No. 5) with U-M receiving seven votes in the Coaches Poll.
• U-M finished first at the John McNichols Invitational on Sept. 21, claiming two of the top-five finishes. Host Indiana State finished second (62), while Miami (Ohio) finished third (79), Eastern Illinois was fourth (124) and Vermont fifth (111).
• Junior Rylee Tolson led Michigan's effort, finishing first with a personal best time of 20:53.3 and shaving 43 seconds off her previous best.
• Graduate transfer Mary Caroline Heinen is off to a solid start for the Maize and Blue, placing fifth (21:10.9) in Terre Haute, Ind., for her second top-five finish in as many meets.
• Penelopea Gordon earned a sixth-place finish with a personal best time of 21:14.0, shedding more than two minutes off her previous personal best.
• Freshmen Anjali Hocker Singh (21:30.1) and Natalie VanOtteren (21:33.6) both made their Michigan debuts at the John McNichols Invitational.
• U-M will run six kilometers, with the B race to begin at 11 a.m. CDT and the Championship race will begin at 12:20 p.m. CDT.
• The Maize and Blue will return to Madison, Wis., following the Nuttycombe Invitational for Pre-Nationals on Oct. 19.
