
Wolverines to Return to Action at John McNichols Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's cross country team will be back in action on Saturday (Sept. 21) at 9:45 a.m. when the Wolverines compete at the John McNichols Invitational hosted by Indiana State.
Notes
• U-M remains ranked in the latest USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region rankings, coming in at No. 6 for the second straight week. Three Big Ten teams sit ahead of the Wolverines in Wisconsin (No. 2), Michigan State (No. 3) and Ohio State (No. 5).
• This is the second meet of the season for the Maize and Blue, who hosted the Michigan Open on Aug. 30.
• Kayla Windemuller led the way for U-M at the season-opener, running 17:46.6 in the 5K to finish first for the third-straight Michigan Open. Samantha Hastie earned a second-place finish with a personal best 17:48.3, while Penelopea Gordon (17:52.5), Mary Caroline Heinen (17:57.9) and Rylee Tolson (17:59.6) rounded out the top five finishers.
• Transfers Heinen and Brooke Johnston both made their debut in maize and blue in the season opener along with Jadyn Zdanavage, Caroline Vance, and Katie Venhuizen.
• Tolson, Lisa Luecke (18:07.7), Leah Hill (18:25.4) and Catrin Koselka (20:23.0) all posted personal bests at the Hudson Mills Metropark.
• Freshmen Anjali Hocker-Singh, Natalie VanOtteren, and Katelyn Watkins are all set to make their Michigan debuts in Terre Haute, Ind.
