Abby Andrews and Australia battled but fell to Spain 11-9 to earn silver medals. Andrews scored once in the third quarter, her 13th goal of the tournament, to power the Stingers to their first medal in 12 years.

Thursday, Aug. 8
Abby Andrews and Australia outlasted the United States 14-13 in a penalty shootout to advance to the gold-medal match against Spain on Sunday (Aug. 10) at 9:35 a.m. EDT. Andrews scored a team-high four goals all in the third quarter and converted on her penalty shot to propel the Stingers to the Olympic final. Heading into the second half down 5-2, Andrews scored two straight goals to put Australia within striking distance at 5-4. Andrews scored two more goals just over a minutes apart to keep the game tied at five and six, respectively. After the end of regulation, Australia and USA were locked at eight which triggered a decisive penalty shootout. Andrews calmly buried her penalty attempt as the Australians won the shootout 6-5 to advance to the gold-medal match.

Tuesday, Aug. 6
Former Wolverine Abby Andrews and Australia advanced to the semifinals with a 9-6 triumph over Greece. Andrews scored twice in the second quarter, bringing her scoring total to eight for the tournament. After a low-scoring first quarter, Andrews found the back of the net at 6:39 mark of the second to put Australia up 2-0. She gave the Stingers the lead, 4-3, with 21 seconds remaining in the quarter. Australia outscored Greece 5-3 in the second half to secure a place in the semifinals. Australia will take on the United States on Thursday (Aug. 8) at a time to be determined.

Sunday, Aug. 4
Abby Andrews and Team Australia finished group play undefeated with a 14-12 penalty shootout win over Hungary. Andrews scored for the fourth straight game and converted on a penalty shot to help the Stingers to a 4-0 record in Paris. Australia advances to the quarterfinal round, which will be played on Tuesday (Aug 6).

Friday, Aug. 2
Abby Andrews and Australia moved to 3-0 with a 10-7 win over Canada. Andrews scored one goal in the second period, her third straight game with a score. Australia will play its final group game on Sunday (Aug. 4) at 8 a.m. EDT against Hungary.

Wednesday, July 31
Abby Andrews and Team Australia hit the pool for their second group game and defeated the Netherlands 15-14 in a penalty shootout to improve to 2-0 in Paris. Andrews tallied her lone goal of the game in the first quarter to tie the game at one goal apiece. Australia will play its final group game Sunday (Aug. 4) against Hungary at 8 a.m. EDT.

Saturday, July 27
Behind a dominant effort from former Wolverine Abby Andrews, Australia opened the Olympics with a 7-5 win over China at the Aquatics Centre. The Stingers got off to a quick start by scoring the first two goals of the contest, including a penalty score from Andrews. After China tied the game at two, Andrews found the back of the net for the second time to give Australia a 3-2 edge heading to the second quarter. Andrews completed her hat trick at the 7:17 mark of the second period to help propel Australia to a win to open group play in Paris.
