
Thomson Even Par, Among Top 25 After NCAA West Lafayette Regional Second Round

» With 12 pars, four birdies, a bogey and double bogey, Michigan's Hunter Thomson posted a second-round 71 (-1) at the NCAA West Lafayette Regional to sit 144 (E) and in a tie for 22nd in the 75-golfer field.
» Thomson is making his first NCAA postseason appearance. He is the fourth Wolverine to be given an invitation to an NCAA Regional and the first in six years.
» For a second straight day, Thomson will be paired with Tennessee Tech's Haden Maxwell and Valpo's Caleb VanArragon for the final round starting at 10:23 a.m. off the No. 1 tee.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- University of Michigan junior men's golfer Hunter Thomson carded a second-round 71 (-1) Monday (May 13) and is tied for 22nd with an even-par 144 36-hole total at the NCAA West Lafayette Regional at Purdue's Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, Kampen Course.
Following his opening-round 73 (+1), Thomson got off to a red-hot start birdieing four of his first eight holes to make an early jump into the top 10. A closing front-side bogey put him three under heading to the back-nine. Despite a double-bogey on the 12th hole, Thomson posted eight pars to etch a 71 (-1). With a 144 tally, he drew himself to even par and remained among the top 25 as he is in a tie for 22nd with five other golfers.
For the second day in a row, Thomson -- one of 10 invited individuals -- will be paired with Tennessee Tech's Haden Maxwell and Valparaiso's Caleb VanArragon for the final round starting at 10:23 a.m. off the No. 1 tee.
