BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Led by individual Jude Kim's tie for seventh and starter Will Anderson's tie for 13th, the University of Michigan men's golf team posted a 904 54-hole team total to finish sixth Sunday (April 7) at Indiana's Hoosier Collegiate at the Pfau Course at Indiana University.
After a near three-week break from tournament play, the Wolverines returned to Big Ten country to post its second straight sixth-place team finish. Led by Anderson's opening 72 (+1), the Wolverines began IU's event etching a 299 team total to position themselves seventh in the 15-team field. As the Maize and Blue headed back out, darkness suspended the second 18 as each squad was able to get in 10-12 holes.
Returning to the Pfau Course on Sunday morning, U-M used a 72 (+1) from junior Hunter Thomson to close out the second round with a 298, giving U-M a 597 36-hole total and moved into a tie for sixth. As the winds picked up in the final round, gusting from 15-30 mph, Michigan closed with a 307 to finish sixth with a 904 event total.
With his 222 (72-75-75) total, Anderson paced the Wolverines starting five tying for 13th, while Thomson tied for 25th with his 225 (75-72-78). However, it was Kim's individual performance that highlighted the tournament. With a 219 (75-71-73) total, he posted his third top-10 finish of the season as he tied for seventh.
The Wolverines stay in Big Ten country to close their regular season, heading to Urbana, Ill., for the Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate at the Atkins Club. Last season, the Wolverines closed the regular season at Illinois' home event, posting a ninth-place finish.
