Michigan Falls to Nebraska in Regular-Season Finale

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- In its regular-season finale, the University of Michigan men's basketball team fell 85-70 to Nebraska on Sunday's (March 10) Senior Day at Crisler Center.
Leaders and Best
Dug McDaniel led the Wolverines with 17 points, shooting 5-for-7 from three and dishing out five assists. Senior Terrance Williams II added 14 points and shot 50-percent (3-for-6) from deep in his final game at Crisler.
The Turning Point
Michigan led 16-14 at a media timeout at the 14:35 mark, but Nebraska went on a quick 8-0 run to give itself a six-point lead and maintained it for the remainder of the game.
First Half
Both squads started the afternoon shooting 66.7 percent from the field (6-for-9). Michigan (8-23, 3-17 Big Ten) made four of its first six three-point field goals with Williams drilling a pair of threes to give Michigan a 16-14 lead with 14:58 remaining. Over the next minute and a half, Nebraska (22-9, 12-8 Big Ten) went on a quick 8-0 run to take control, leading 22-16.
Following the run, the Cornhuskers remained in control over the next seven minutes, reaching an eight-point lead at the 6:39 mark. Youssef Khayat made Michigan's first field goal in nearly four minutes as U-M chipped away at Nebraska's lead, trailing 36-32 with 5:54 left in the half.
McDaniel connected on his fifth three, remaining perfect from beyond the arc, to bring U-M within three points, 46-43, with 1:53 left, However, Nebraska hit two of its last three shots to take a 50-43 lead into halftime.
Second Half
Nebraska began the second half shooting 5-for-8 and extended its lead to double digits for the first time all day. Michigan struggled to find a rhythm following the intermission, going 2-for-6 from the field, and trailed 59-48 with 16:27 to go. Over the next 2:50, Nebraska went on a 11-2 run as Michigan found itself down 20 points, 70-50.
For the next three minutes, Nebraska was held without a point, going 0-for-4 from the field. Michigan used the Cornhuskers' struggles to its advantage and went on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 70-58 midway through the half. The provided only a short boost in momentum, with U-M making one of its final 11 attempts and fell to Nebraska 85-70.
What's Next
The Wolverines will open Big Ten Tournament play in the first round on Wednesday (March 13) at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The game is scheduled to tip off 25 minutes after the 5:30 p.m. CST contest and will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.

• McDaniel eclipsed 700 career points (710) after posting 17 points.
• With three rebounds on the day, Nimari Burnett surpassed 200 career rebounds (202).
• This was U-M's first-ever home loss to Nebraska. The Wolverines now hold a 12-1 record against he Cornhuskers in Ann Arbor.
• Senior Jackson Selvala scored in a game for the second time in his career, converting on two free throws while also pulling in a rebound.
