
Wolverine Contingent Readies for Winter Cup in Kentucky

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Seven gymnasts with ties to the University of Michigan men's gymnastics team will take part in the USA Gymnastics-sanctioned Winter Cup Friday-Sunday (Feb. 23-25) at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Ky.
Notes
• Current Wolverines in graduate students Paul Juda and Crew Bold, senior Javier Alfonso, junior Rithik Puri, sophomore Landen Blixt, as well as graduate coach Cameron Bock will take part in the competition. Sophomore Fred Richard has elected to forego the competition.
• Juda, Blixt and Bock will compete in the all-around competition. Alfonso will compete on still rings and parallel bars, Puri will partake in vault, still ring and high bar competition, while Bold will represent on floor exercise, parallel bars and high bar.
• Michigan's seven gymnasts that qualified for the meet are the second most in the country, trailing only Stanford.
• The meet is a qualifying event for the 2024 U.S. Gymnastics Championships.
• Richard earned a runner-up finish in the all-around last season and took home titles on floor exercise and high bar, while Bock won the all-around competition in the 2021 season.
• Competition begins on Friday (Feb. 23) with day one of the all-around at 1:30 p.m. If qualified, gymnasts will advance to event finals on Sunday (Feb. 25) at 5:30 p.m.
• The USA Gymnastics YouTube channel will be the source for live coverage of the competition. Day one of men's competition will be streamed on the channel from 1:30-4 p.m., while Sunday will be streamed from 5:30-9 p.m. All individual routines will be uploaded following the competition as well.
• U-M's full team competition will begin again on Saturday (March 2) as the Wolverines host Oklahoma at 1 p.m. inside Cliff Keen Arena.
