ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan wrestling head coach Sean Bormet announced Monday (Dec. 2) the addition of graduate transfer Josh Heindselman to the Wolverine program. Heindselman, a four-year starter at heavyweight at Oklahoma, will have one year of eligibility remaining.
"We're thrilled to have Josh officially join our Wolverine program," said Bormet. "He's been in Ann Arbor over the past couple months training with the Cliff Keen Wrestling Club, and we've all really enjoyed getting to know him -- fun and lighthearted off the mat and all business when he steps on it. He has fit in great with our other guys. Josh is a hard worker and loves to compete. He has shown tremendous growth and made big gains over the last couple of years, and I'm excited to see what he can accomplish here."
Heindselman, who is currently ranked No. 12 nationally by both InterMat and FloWrestling, posted an 82-46 record at heavyweight over his four competitive seasons at Oklahoma, including a 49-20 mark over the last two seasons. He is a four-time NCAA qualifier, posting two top-four finishes at the Big 12 Championships (2021, '24), and dropped an overtime decision in the NCAA bloodround last season after reaching the Round of 16 in 2023.
A native of Piedmont, Okla., Heindselman earned his bachelor's degree in biology and has already been accepted to medical school back in Oklahoma for next year. He is a four-time NWCA Scholar All-America honoree and earned Academic All-Big 12 first-team selection in each of the four seasons.
Heindselman will officially join the Wolverine roster in the second semester.
