CHICAGO, Ill. -- On Monday, Nov. 25, long snapper William Wagner of the University of Michigan football program was named one of three finalists for the 2024 Patrick Mannelly Award, presented to the best long snapper in college football.
Wagner is Michigan's first finalist for the Mannelly Award, which has been presented since 2019 (now in its sixth year). He is joined by Georgia's Beau Gardner and Florida's Rocco Underwood to make up this year's class of finalists.
Wagner has snapped for all 46 punts, all 16 field goal tries, and 25-of-26 PATs so far in 2024. He is part of a field goal operation that is 15-of-16 on the year (one blocked) including six-for-six on field goals of 50-plus yards. Together, the unit has set a Michigan single-season record for most 50-plus makes in a year (previous record: four).
He has appeared in 49 games during his career and has snapped for Lou Groza Award winner Jake Moody, semifinalist Dominic Zvada and All-Big Ten selection James Turner.
The winner of the 2024 Patrick Mannelly Award will be named on Saturday, Dec. 14, in Chicago.
