ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan football program announced Monday night (Aug. 17) the selection of four captains to lead Team 147 during the 2026 season.

Running back Jordan Marshall and quarterback Bryce Underwood were selected to represent the offense and safety Rod Moore and defensive tackle Trey Pierce were voted as the defensive leaders.
An endowment was established in 2020 for the players who are named captains of the football team by the Robert Brown family in conjunction with the Monroe-Brown Foundation.
Being elected captain is annually regarded as the greatest honor that a football player can receive at Michigan, mainly because it is an honor bestowed to a player by his teammates. Captaincy obtained by player vote is a distinct recognition.
Moore becomes the first player in school history to be voted a three-time captain. The other three players were voted captain for the first time.
Coach Kyle Whittingham also announced the selection of the program's Leadership Council for the 2026 season.
The team captains and the following 12 players are the representatives on the leadership council: S Nico Andrighetto, CB Zeke Berry, LB Troy Bowles, DE Cam Brandt, WR JJ Buchanan, DE John Henry Daley, DT Enow Etta, OL Blake Frazier, OL Jake Guarnera, CB Jyaire Hill, WR Andrew Marsh and OL Andrew Sprague.
