
Michigan Extends Lead on Day Two at Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The No. 11-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team strengthened its lead on the second day of the Georgia Tech Invitational on Saturday (Nov. 23). The Wolverines have tallied 1,019 points and lead by more than 200 points over the second-place Auburn Tigers.
Hannah Bellard kicked off the second night of events with a win in the 400-yard IM, posting a time of 4:07.97, earning an NCAA 'B' cut. Natalie Kan followed up with a victory in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.04.
U-M shined in the 200-yard freestyle, taking first, second, third, and fourth overall. Stephanie Balduccini took the top spot with a time of 1:41.85, meeting the NCAA qualification standard. Rebecca Diaconescu took second with a mark of 1:44.46. Malia Amuan and Christey Liang rounded out the sweep with times of 1:44.87 and 1:45.78, respectively.
In diving, Kiarra Milligan dominated the three-meter dive, posting a score of 339.60 to win the event.
Michigan closed out the second night with a win in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The team of Amuan, Balduccini, Bellard, and Diaconescu combined to post a time of 6:59.76 to take the win and earn an NCAA 'A' cut.
The Maize and Blue will close out the Georgia Tech Invitational on Sunday (Nov. 24). Preliminaries will start at 10 a.m., with finals getting underway at 5:30 p.m.
