Blue Blood Battle on Tap in Boston This Weekend

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 11-ranked University of Michigan ice hockey team (3-2-1) travels east to face No. 5 Boston University (4-1-0) in a series this weekend. The teams play Friday (Nov. 1) and Saturday (Nov. 2) at 7 p.m., with both games streaming live on ESPN+.
Notes
• Michigan holds an 18-14 advantage over BU in the all-time series, which dates back to 1950. The Terriers lead 5-3 when playing at home. This is the Wolverines' first game at Agganis Arena since November 2015, when the teams split the series with a 3-2 loss followed by a 4-2 win. At the time, Michigan was ranked 10th and BU was 12th. The teams last met in a series at Yost in October 2022, when they again split, with Michigan winning 9-2 before a 3-2 loss.
• The Wolverines posted a 5-4 overtime exhibition win over the U.S. National Team Development Program on Friday night (Oct. 25) at Yost. Hunter Hady, T.J. Hughes, Philippe Lapointe, Christian Humphreys, and Michael Hage scored, with Hage netting the overtime winner. Josh Eernisse, Tim Lovell, Hughes and Humphreys each recorded two-point nights. Andrew Albano played in goal, making 25 saves in less than 63 minutes.
• The Wolverines have the toughest strength of schedule in the nation, followed by North Dakota.
• Hage leads the team in scoring with seven points in six games, totaling four goals and three assists. He ranks second nationally in rookie scoring, behind Union's Ben Muthersbaugh, who has 13 points in seven games.
• Garrett Schifsky leads the nation in short-handed goals with three. He has five goals and one assist in six games. Michigan's all-time leader in short-handed goals is John Madden, who holds an NCAA record with 10 in the 1995-96 season and 23 in his career. Madden is currently an assistant coach with the Utah Hockey Club.
• Hughes ranks third in scoring with a team-high four assists, followed by defenseman Tyler Duke with three points. Six skaters have two points, while four others have one point each.
• Leading the team in blocked shots is rookie Dakoda Rhéaume-Mullen, with 12 in six games. Defensemen Jacob Truscott and Ethan Edwards follow with seven blocks each.
• Michigan's power play has yet to find its rhythm, converting two of 19 opportunities (10.5 percent). However, the penalty kill has started strong, going 21-for-25 with three short-handed goals, achieving an 84 percent success rate.
• The Wolverines have scored first in all but one game this season.
