Big Ten Co-Athlete of the Week (March 13) -- Julia Fliegner was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after helping Michigan to a 4-2 win over No. 8 Pepperdine (March 10). Fliegner, ranked No. 18 in singles, got a 6-3, 6-3 win over No. 6-ranked Savannah Broadus at No. 2. It was just the second dual-match loss for Broadus this season. Big Ten Athlete of the Week (Feb. 28) -- Gala Mesochoritou was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career after helping Michigan to a 2-0 week, highlighted by a 4-1 win over No. 5 NC State. Against the Wolfpack, she recorded a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles over NC State's No. 27-ranked Anna Zyryanova as Michigan rallied from a 1-0 deficit for the win (Feb. 22). She clinched Michigan's 4-0 shutout win over Columbia (Feb. 23) with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 over Gayathri Krishnan. Big Ten Athlete of the Week (Feb. 14) -- Piper Charney was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career after helping Michigan to a runner-up finish at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship (Feb. 9-12). Charney went 3-0 in singles action and 2-1 on the doubles court as the Wolverines went 3-1. In the opening round against No. 15 Cal, helped Michigan rally for a 4-2 win by clinching the match with a 6-1, 6-7 (9), 6-4 win over No. 71 Lan Mi. In Michigan's quarterfinal win over No. 11 Virginia to advance to the semifinals for the first time ever, she combined with Reese Miller for a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles to clinch the match's first point, with her singles match abandoned. In Michigan's win over No. 7 NC State, Charney won both her doubles and singles matches. She combined again with Miller for a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles as the first match off court and won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles for Michigan's second point of the day. In the championship match against No. 3 Oklahoma State, Charney picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win over No. 46 Ayumi Miyamota to put Michigan's first point on the board. Big Ten Athlete of the Week (Jan. 24) -- Julia Fliegner was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week for the first time this season after helping Michigan split a pair of ranked matches in Oklahoma. She went 2-0 on the singles court for U-M at the No. 2 position. Fliegner picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over No. 2-ranked Ange Oby Kajuru of Oklahoma State to put a point on the board for Michigan. She completed the weekend with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over No. 16-ranked Florencia Urrutia of Oklahoma as U-M got a 4-3 win over the Sooners. » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Athlete of the Week (Jan. 17) -- Kari Miller was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week for the sixth time in her career after compiling a 2-0 singles mark and a 2-1 record on the doubles court at the Michigan Invitational (Jan. 12-14). Miller, ranked No. 10 in singles, started the weekend with a three-set win over No. 107 Carol Lee (Georgia Tech), 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. She capped her tournament in singles with a 6-4, 6-4 Dasha Vidmanova of Georgia. She combined in doubles action with Jaedan Brown, with the duo's weekend highlighted by a 6-4 win over No. 21-ranked Irina Cantos and Luciana Perry of Ohio State. » Big Ten Release
