
Wolverine Women to Open 2024 Against Indiana, Ohio State

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 16-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team (1-1, 0-1 Big Ten) will open the 2024 portion of its schedule by hosting No. 7 Indiana (3-0, 0-0 Big Ten) in Canham Natatorium for senior day on Friday (Jan. 19) before traveling to Columbus, Ohio to take on rival No. 5 Ohio State (5-1, 0-0 Big Ten) on Saturday (Jan. 20). Both meets are scheduled to begin at noon.
Notes
• U-M returns to the pool after a two-month hiatus from team competition, most recently taking part in the Georgia Invitational (Nov. 16-18) and finishing third.
• The Wolverines will face off against Indiana for the 40th time and will take on Ohio State for the 34th time in program history. Michigan leads the all-time series with the Hoosiers 26-13 and holds a 27-6 edge in the series against the Buckeyes.
• Stephanie Balduccini is off to a strong start this season, boasting top-10 times in the nation in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events. Her mark of 47.26 seconds in the 100 free ranks fourth nationally, while her time of 1:43.30 in the 200 free checks in at ninth in the NCAA.
• Another standout freshman, Hannah Bellard, ranks fourth in the country in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:53.21. Bellard also sits at ninth in the country in the 500 free after posting a mark of 4:38.44 at the Georgia Invitational in November.
• The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Balduccini, Lindsay Flynn, Christey Liang and Claire Newman owns the second-best time in the country with a mark of 3:10.30, which meets the NCAA 'A' standard for postseason qualification.
• In diving, Kiarra Milligan continues to lead the way for the Wolverines, sitting 10th in the Big Ten in the one-meter dive with a score of 289.35.
• Following the pair of dual meets, U-M will return to Canham on Feb. 17 for the First Chance Meet.
