
Wolverine Women Set to Battle Top Competition, Big Ten Foes at Badger Classic

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 25-ranked University of Michigan women's cross country team will hit the road and travel to Madison for the Badger Classic on Saturday (Sept. 9) at 11:10 a.m. CDT.
• Michigan will be competing at the Zimmer Course, the site of this year's Big Ten Championships and NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
• The Wolverines will take on multiple teams in the top 20 of the USTFCCCA national rankings, including conference foes Ohio State (No. 16) and Wisconsin (No. 18).
• U-M got its season underway last Friday at the Michigan Open in Dexter, Mich., against Detroit-Mercy, sweeping the top five spots.
• Graduate student Kayla Windemuller got her 2023 campaign off to a strong start by winning the Michigan Open with a time of 17:21.
• Samantha Saenz clocked a 17:21.6 at Hudson Mills Metropark last week, finishing just behind Windemuller to secure second place.
• In her first race as a Wolverine, sophomore Lani Bloom logged a time of 17:52.0 to finish third overall.
• Two freshmen-- CC Jones and Hannah Pricco -- are set to make their Michigan debuts on Saturday at Wisconsin. Pricco and Jones ran unattached at the Michigan Open, registering times of 18:12.7 and 18:21.0, respectively.
• Graduate transfer Tilly Simpson is set to race for Michigan for the first time in 2023. Simpson joins U-M after a four-year stint at the University of Birmingham in England.
