
Holman Claims Silver, Gold at NACAC U23 Championships

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica -- University of Michigan women's track and field athlete Ziyah Holman claimed two medals for the United States over the weekend (July 21-23) at the NACAC U23 Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Holman put out a series of strong performances, winning the preliminary round of the 400 meters with a time of 51.51 to advance to finals.
In the 400-meter final, Holman ran an impressive 50.95 to claim the silver medal behind Jermaisha Arnold (Texas A&M) of the United States. Both Holman and Arnold broke the previous NACAC U23 meet record. This marked Holman's first individual international medal.
On the final day of competition, Holman competed alongside Kiah Williams, Jan'Taijah Jones and Jermaisha Arnold on the 4x400 relay team. The foursome secured the gold medal for the United States with a meet record time of 3:26.83. Their time beat the previous meet record, held by the United States for 15 years, by 0.63 seconds.
Corinne Jemison also competed at the NACAC U23 Championships in the discus throw. Jemison competed in a field of twelve athletes but finished the contest with no mark.
